After medical school, Dr. Ueberroth moved to Boston to pursue specialized training and conduct research in ocular immunology and uveitis at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution (MERSI), a center dedicated to caring for and studying complex ocular inflammatory disease. He then completed his internal medicine internship at Harvard Medical School’s Mount Auburn Hospital. During his time there, he received the Christos E. Carvounis Memorial Award, presented annually to a resident physician in recognition of exemplary patient care.

Next, Dr. Ueberroth completed his ophthalmology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. He then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, receiving advanced medical and surgical training in managing complex vitreoretinal and uveitic disease.

Dr. Ueberroth’s clinical interests are broad and include complex vitreoretinal surgery, uveitis, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He has contributed to the ophthalmic literature through multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has a longstanding passion for medical education and teaching. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and the Vit-Buckle Society (VBS).

Dr. Ueberroth is committed to delivering advanced vitreoretinal care with a thoughtful and compassionate approach. He believes exceptional care includes helping patients understand their diagnosis, thoughtfully considering their treatment options, and ensuring they feel heard and supported throughout their care. After more than a decade of medical and surgical training across the country, he is proud to return home to Michigan and serve patients throughout West Michigan.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ueberroth enjoys spending time with his wife and their son and daughter. Together, they enjoy exploring the outdoors. A lifelong Spartan, he is always happy to talk about Michigan State athletics.
